For some time now, God and I have been discussing the path He has me walking down. My side of the conversation has been filled with questions, several ‘I don’t understand why’ statements, and pleas for wisdom. God has held up his end of the discourse through the Word, multiple sermons & podcasts, songs, other people, and through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Often I find myself in Peter’s shoes as he walked out on the water. I step out of my comfort zone. I choose to trust God to do the unimaginable… then I falter. I let the winds and waves of fear and doubt distract me from the truth… the truth that I CAN trust God no matter how things appear at the moment. The truth that God HAS a plan for his glory even if I can’t see how the pieces will fit together. The truth that God IS bigger than every question, every doubt, and every doubter!
I am so thankful that God is faithful! When I am strong and when I am weak! When I am fearless and when I’m swamped by doubts! When I feel mighty and when I feel small! No matter the circumstances or how I feel, God is faithful! Just this morning, he reminded me again-
After the death of Moses, God called Joshua to step up and lead the Hebrews into their inheritance in the Promised Land. During what I would describe as his commissioning speech, God spoke words to Joshua that should reverberate in the heart of every Christ-follower today.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Feeling a bit discouraged this morning? Terrified by what life is throwing your way? Perhaps you like me need God reassurances from this verse. God is with us wherever we go! Pray with me-
Lord, thank you for loving me! Thank you for being faithful! Thank you for holding my hand! Help me to be strong and courageous! When the doubts and fears try to drown me, remind me that you are with me wherever I go! When discouragement tries to creep in, remind me that you have a plan for me and my loved ones that will bring glory to your name and good to our lives! When I forget, remind me who I am- yours! How blessed I am to sing your praises in the shadow of your wings! Amen!
