Weighing in

Having been asked my opinion, I stood there as the first words that came to mind spilled out. Not that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, in this case it took only minutes to wish I had answered the differently, given more thought to my response.

I open the Word this morning to find a piece of wisdom applicable for my day. As I ponder the verses I think of how rarely I find just affirmation in the Word. Instead I am constantly challenged for the purpose of transformation and refinement. Check out today’s challenge word-

“The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.” Proverbs 15:28

Lord, I want this kind of reflective heart that gives great thought and weight to my words. Instead of letting all the thoughts in my head ‘gush’ out my mouth, teach me to weigh them. Will my words encourage? Bless? Instruct? Help refine others? Glorify God?

Lord, give me more wisdom and may it be reflected in my words.
