A frightening forecast was brought to my attention Friday- the price of coffee may soon skyrocket because something weather wise happened in Columbia that took out much of their crops. You understand my alarm, right? I’m considering stockpiling my favorite k-cup flavors for my Keurig…
The supply and demand principle throws my budget into a tailspin. Beef is up because of the draught, my coffee may soon cost more, and I already pay a ridiculous amount for a gallon of gas. My bank account is greatly affected by the wars, economies, and weather events in other parts of this world.
I just read John’s words in Revelation 8 which described the first 4 trumpet judgments to occur in the tribulation period. In the first trumpet, 1/3 of the earth, 1/3 of the trees, and all the green grass will be burned up. Can you imagine the results? Mudslides and erosion because the grass wouldn’t be there to keep the ground stable, thousands of livestock and wildlife animals hungering for food, and a reduction in oxygen production from less plant photosynthesis taking place… If nothing else even occurred, the loss of grass would cause major problems both environmentally and economically. It’s amazing how one change in the balance of nature can cause so many problems around the world.
Well… maybe not so hard to understand. When my attitude gets out of kilter, everything in my life and the lives I come in contact with are affected. I can get grouchy, rude, short tempered, and not so nice. I don’t want to live that way. Lord, help me to keep my life in a proper balance with the Word, prayer, and serving others so that I will have a positive impact on my world for you. As different storms brew up and blow in my life today, may I stay focused on you and keep the right balance. When my attitude starts to go south, make me aware of it and help me change it. Amen!
