live life better
Unless the question is from the sports category, I can usually offer my Trivial Pursuit team some help. You see, a number of facts and formulas are stuck in my head. Yesterday in Calculus I thought to use Mt. Everest to help students understand the differences in the vocab used in regards to extreme values. On the spot, I told them Mt. Everest is about 29,000 feet. I have no idea why things like that stick in my head but they do.
But I want more than a bunch of facts and knowledge in my head. I want wisdom to be a better parent, wife, teacher, and Christian. So what is wisdom? Godly wisdom is seeing as God sees from his perspective; it’s seeing the bigger picture.
The older I get the more I desire to live life better. By that I don’t mean accumulating more stuff or traveling the world. By ‘live life better’ I mean to be better at relationships and in walking with God. I want to love more. I want to be an encourager and light in the darkness. I don’t want to be brought low over circumstances that are temporary; trials that in the end help me grow and mature. I want to better use my time and resources to impact eternity.
As I dive into the book of Proverbs, I seek the treasure of more wisdom. I so agree with the words Solomon penned when he wrote-
“Blessed is the man who find wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” Proverbs 3: 13-15
Lord, today I ask for your wisdom to guide me. Help me to see and focus on what matters most, loving others with your love. Give me the perspective of eternity when I get too focused on this semester. Change me from the inside out. Help me to grow up in You. Amen
