Gaining victory

More shootings. Last Sunday was Vegas. Now Chicago. The enemy is real and powerful. Yet victory over the enemy is available.

One of my big take-away’s from the Armor of God Bible study is to look deeper to the true enemy. Addictions. Marital problems. Prodigals. Financial struggles. Abuse. Crime. Hate. Racism. These and many more are weapons in the devil’s arsenal to shut us down, harm us, cause division, and distract us from God and our purpose. A quick look around our country shows his methods to be quite effective.

But God is greater.

Too often though we fight the enemy in our own strength or with the help of others. A verse in Psalms reminds us of our help-

“Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemy.” Psalm 108: 12-13

Let’s pause and consider the greatest battle we are facing. Are we fighting in our own strength, pursuing help from another, or are we seeking God, asking him to fight for us?

Lord, the real enemy is the devil. Go at him today. Take him down. Don’t let him win a victory over me, my loved ones, or in my country today. May all the glory be to You! Amen
