I love the heart of David. Though he was a man who made some pretty big mistakes, he loved God. Out of the depths of his soul in moments of great joy, great distress, or great remorse came some of the most beautiful words written. David was so thirsty for more of God that he touched the heart of God. God called David a man after his own heart.
I opened my Bible to Luke 19 to pick up where I left off yesterday. However, my heart was called back to Psalms to words that touched my heart and lifted me up. Though we all walk different paths and face different struggles, I believe David’s words will touch your heart as they have mine…
“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62: 5-8
Whether today brings more blessings that we can imagine, more challenges that we think we face, or if it just feels like another ordinary day, the words of David can touch our hearts even hundreds of years later. Find rest in God! Trust at all times! Don’t be shaken! My heart overflows with joy and thankfulness for a God who can carry my burdens and give me rest! God, I praise you this morning! Amen!
